FULL-TIME ACADEMIC POSITION IN MEDIEVAL/OTTOMAN STUDIES

Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Eastern Mediterranean University
Famagusta, North Cyprus


Job Description:

The primary responsibilities for this position include undergraduate
teaching, scholarly research and publication, developing curriculum in
the field of history, serving on appropriate department and university
committees, and advising a diverse population of students.


Qualifications:

All applicants should have potential for excellence in teaching and
research. Preference will be given to a candidate with a research
interest in the history of Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean.
Applicants for an Assistant Professor appointment should have completed
a Ph.D. degree in History, Middle Eastern or related studies and should
have published research in indexed journals. Excellent command of
English expected. An applicant for an Associate Professor or Professor
appointment must demonstrate a strong academic record of teaching and
publications, and should have a proven track of ability to mentor junior
faculty.

Term of Employment:

EMU offers a competitive salary. The initial appointment is for eleven
months starting September 1, 2005, renewable for two years, contingent
upon successful performance. There is a generous package of fringe
benefits, including furnished accommodation, medical service and
one-month annual leave. Return airfare is provided.
