The Faculty of Languages and Literature at the Otto-Friedrich
University, Bamberg, invites applications for the permanent position of
University Professor (chair) of Turkish Studies (Turkish language,
history and culture) as successor to Professor Klaus Kreiser. The post,
which is to be filled as soon as possible, lies within the civil service
(Beamtenverh=E4ltnis) salary scale W3.

Applicants should have wide experience in both research and teaching in
the areas indicated. In particular, a sound knowledge of modern Turkey
is required, based on relatively long experience in the country itself.
Mastery of Ottoman Turkish and an active knowledge of modern standard
Turkish are also essential. The post holder will be required to
participate in current and planned courses in the Faculty of Languages
and Literature. Collaboration in current and planned Graduate Colleges
and Centres, as well as participation in the administrative work of
the Faculty and in international exchange programmes are also expected.

Applicants must have a University degree, teaching skills, a relevant
doctoral degree and a post-doctoral qualification (habilitation), or be
able to show evidence of comparable academic achievement.

On the date of appointment the applicant should not be older than
52 years. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances (see
Art. 12 Para. 3 Clause 1 and/or 2 of the BayHSchLG - Bayerisches
Hochschullehrergesetz).

The Faculty seeks to increase the percentage of women in research and
teaching and therefore welcomes applications from female academics.
