Haziran 2016'da gerçekleşecek "Turkish American Studies" sempozyumuna 
özet gönderenlere teşekkürler.

Gelen özetlerde, klasik bildiri sunmanın ötesine taşma, örneğin yaşam 
deneyimi aktarma isteği ve eğilimi gözlemledik. Dolayısıyla 15 Ocak 
2016'ya kadar özet göndereceklere bu hususu da belirten genişletilmiş 
bildiri çağrısı hazırladık. Aşağıda bulacaksınız. Özetlerinizi bekliyoruz.

Turkish-American Studies

The Cultural Studies Association of Turkey and the Istanbul Office of 
the American Research Institute in Turkey are organizing a symposium 
that aims to examine the history, language, literature, and culture of 
the Turkish element in the United States of America. This includes 
coverage of immigrants of all ethnic backgrounds from the Ottoman Empire 
and their descendants, and all persons self-defined as Turks and their 
descendants. We welcome the participation of representatives from 
various academic disciplines who share a common interest in 
Turkish-American topics.

We aim to manifest the profusion of cultural, political, and artistic 
expressions grown from the distinctive history of connections between 
the peoples of Turkey and the United States. We expect to combine a 
range of perspectives that reflect the two peoples’ connections. 
Therefore, we hope to program both academic and other kinds of 
presentations; and we encourage proposals for twenty-minute 
presentations in any different form, from discussion to exhibition to music.

The symposium is a follow-up to the “Introduction to Turkish-American 
Studies” workshop organized in 2014 at Boğaziçi University. Proposals 
are invited for 20-minute papers or for sessions comprised of three to 
four papers on any theme pertaining to the Turkish-American presence. 
The proposal should not exceed 200 words, and a bio should be attached.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 15 January 2015. The results 
will be announced on or before 1 February 2015.

A combined volume that includes selected papers from the 2014 workshop 
will be published.
