Monmouth University invites nominations and self-nominations for a
Visiting Scholar from the Muslim World for a period of 3-6 weeks to
coincide with Monmouth University's Annual Global Understanding Project
during March-April 2007. Monmouth University is located in West Long
Branch, New Jersey, USA. Further information on Monmouth's Annual Global
Understanding Project can be found at www.monmouth.edu/gup
The Visiting Scholar will engage with the Monmouth academic community of
students and faculty, and with Monmouth-area civic and religious
organizations through public lectures, teaching, and informal
conversation. The program is designed to facilitate greater
understanding of the history, politics, and culture of Muslim societies
by people in the United States. The program also aims to foster
long-term connections through institutional partnership, curriculum
consultation, and faculty development.
Monmouth University plans to apply for a Fulbright Grant. If received,
the grant, as well as Monmouth University funding, will cover travel,
insurance, and living expenses. Recent recipients of Fulbright grants
and scholars with extensive pior U.S. experience are not eligible.
