The Department of History at The University of Montana invites 
applications for
a one-year position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern 
History
beginning August 2006. Specialization is open, but applications from 
candidates
who work in Ottoman history, with an ability to teach 20th-century 
topics, are
especially welcome. Successful candidate will teach five courses (two one
semester, three the next); choice of topics is flexible. The University of
Montana is located in Missoula, a beautiful, cosmopolitan town in western
Montana. Interest in Middle Eastern history is broad on campus. Arabic and
Persian are taught, and there is a Central and Southwest Asian Studies 
Program,
funded by a Title VI grant. Ph.D. preferred. Please send letter of
