Youngstown State University invites applications from candidates with a =
major field in Middle Eastern History and/or Central Asian Studies. =
Ability to teach courses in Near East, Islam and/or central and =
sub-continent Asia strongly preferred. Those with survey experience in =
World History given preference. Ph.D. by August 2006, preferred, ABD =
considered. Candidate must demonstrate an active scholarly agenda with =
publications, and university and/or community service.

The city of Youngstown is located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The =
Youngstown-Warren area has a population in excess of 500,000 and offers =
the usual amenities of urban living but few of the problems of the big =
city. All types of housing are available within a 30-minute drive of the =
campus, and housing costs in the Youngstown area are significantly lower =
than in most metropolitan areas.

This is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment. Salary: [added by Human =
