CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL THEORY (Sociology)

The Department of Sociology, University of Alberta, invites
applications for a July 1, 2007 tenure-track appointment in
Contemporary Social Theory at the Assistant Professor level. PhD is
required at the time of appointment. Salary will be commensurate with
rank and experience, and the U of A benefit package is comprehensive.

The department defines Contemporary Social Theory broadly, and areas
of specialization within this expanding field are open, including, for
example, power/knowledge, sovereignty/empire, gender/sexuality, and
culture/visual sociology.

The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate
courses in social theory and related topics, and will be expected to
maintain a research profile commensurate with employment in a
research-intensive university and a highly-regarded Sociology
department.
