Dear colleagues,=20
My new book, L'autre Turquie: le mouvement al=E9viste et ses =
territoires, has been published by Presses universitaires de France, =
Paris.=20
The book argues that the Alevist movement reveals "another Turkey" that =
has often been ignored in a country that now finds itself enjoined, on =
the occasion of its candidature for the European Union, to amend its =
Kemalist nationalism and reconsider its human diversity. With an =
analysis of the Alevist mobilisation since the eighties, in Turkey but =
also in Germany, it sheds new light on the identity issue and political =
activism in contemporary Turkey. It pays special attention to the =
changes due to rapprochement with the European Union, as well as to the =
new dynamics in migration, and proposes an innovative reflection on =
transnational movements in these times of "globalisation".
