1. Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Humanities

The 2005-2006 Temple University Society of Fellows Post-Doctoral
Fellowship

The Temple University Society of Fellows in the Humanities Post-
Doctoral Fellowship is designed to support the work of new voices and 
talent
in humanistic scholarship and teaching, whether from a humanities,
social science, or interdisciplinary perspective. The successful candidate
will possess the Ph.D. at the time of application, a strong research
potential, and evidence of exemplary teaching success. The Society 
Post-Doctoral
Fellow will teach up to 2 courses per year. The Fellowship may be
renewed for a second year at the discretion of the College.  Application
materials must include a letter of interest, a current curriculum
vitae, a sample of scholarly work, graduate transcripts, three letters of
reference, and a proposal for an innovative, interdisciplinary
course in the humanities that the candidate would most like to teach. 
The deadline
for applications for the 2005-2006 Post-Doctoral Fellowship is October 
1, 2004.

2. Two-Year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Humanities and the Arts
Valparaiso University - Valparaiso, IN

The Lilly Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts at Valparaiso
University offers three postdoctoral teaching fellowships for
2005-2007 to scholars seriously considering academic vocations in
church-related institutions. Lilly Fellows teach seven courses over
the two-year period in the honors college and in departments of
the College of Arts and Sciences at Valparaiso University; work
with a VU faculty mentor; engage in scholarship or creative work;
participate in a two-year colloquium; and interact with the LFP
National Network of 72 Catholic and Protestant colleges and
universities.

Applicants from the following disciplines will be considered: art
and art history; creative writing; history; interdisciplinary
studies; languages and literatures; music and music history; philosophy;
religion and theology; rhetoric; theatre arts and theatre history.
The PhD or equivalent must have been received within 20
months prior to August 2005.

Appointment: Fellows will be appointed to Valparaiso University
for two years beginning August 2005 at rank equivalent to
assistant professor. Stipend: $41, 000 annually plus standard
benefits, moving allowance, and professional funds.
