Keynote by Hugh J. Silverman
The student organizers are delighted to announce that Hugh J. Silverman,
Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Literature at Stony Brook
University, has confirmed as keynote speaker. Executive Director of the
International Association for Philosophy and Literature, Prof. Silverman
is the author of several books on phenomenology and literary theory,
including Textualities: Between Hermeneutics and Deconstruction. In
addition to the keynote lecture, a roundtable discussion will also be
devoted to topics in deconstruction and Derrida's legacy across the
humanities.
The organizers welcome 15- to 20-minute presentations or full panels on
all topics related to cultural studies, including but not limited to the
following areas of study: Derrida and Deconstruction; Semiotics and
Linguistics; Structuralism, Poststructuralism; Phenomenology and
Continental Philosophy; Queer Theory and Performance Theory; Marxism;
Feminisms and Women=92s Studies; Latin American Studies; North American
Studies; Popular Culture/Countercultures/Subculture; Disability Studies;
Ethnic Studies; Postcolonialism; Film Studies; Poetics and Formalism.

Registration fee: $25 by March 15 (regular registration) or $35 (late
registration). Fees include lunch. Proceedings will be published on CD
ROM, which will be available at the conference, as well as in the
on-line log.
The conference committee will award prizes for the best undergraduate
paper using Derrida=92s theories or a deconstructionist methodology, as
well as for the best graduate and undergraduate papers. If you wish to
submit a paper for award consideration please send it as an e-mail
attachment to esu_cult_lit_conference@yahoo.com. Deadline for award
consideration: 15 March, 2005.
