SOCIOLOGY OF DENTAL HEALTH - CALL FOR PAPERS AND INVITATION FOR
PARTICIPATION”
Important as it is, the social analysis of dental health and dentistry
remains marginal in health social science. Why do most health insurances
programs exclude dental care? Inequity in dental care and health. The
aesthetics of dental looks. Social status, toothless ness and the
elderly. Program dentists, lay oersibs and conflicts in dental health.
Tooth decay and dental health education for children and adults.
Cultural understandings of tooth pain, prevention and healing. Folk
traditions of dental health. Poverty and dental health. Symbols of
wealth and use of gold in dentistry. Commercialization of dental health.
The social history of materials in dentistry. What does the archeology
of dentistry tell us? “Teeth” in the cognitive world. This session aims
to explore and welcomes research and informed discussions of the above
topics and issues. Social consequences of the collapse of buildings and
other man-made accidents will also be examined. Please find updated
information as regards the meeting at the IFSSH website
