SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION FOR HEALTH SCIENCES - CALL FOR PAPERS AND
INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATION”
How much social science knowledge is needed to become a medical doctor
or a nurse? What is the place of behavioral sciences in biomedicine?
What can we say about the curriculum of medical schools from the point
of view of social science courses? Why is there a new interest in
qualitative research methods – should the teaching of these methods be
integrated into the curriculum of medical schools? What should the
content of social science courses be in medical and nursing schools? At
what year should they be introduced? This session aims to compare and
discuss different case studies of medical curricula from the world over.
Similarly, how much health based knowledge is needed in the curriculum
of social scientists? Why are so few social scientists interested in
issues of human health? How can social and health scientists be trained
to facilitate interdisciplinary team work? Social consequences of the
collapse of buildings and other man-made accidents will also be
examined. Please find updated information as regards the meeting at the
IFSSH website http://www.ifssh.net.
