CHILD HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT - CALL FOR PAPERS AND INVITATION FOR
PARTICIPATION”
What are the new paradigms in the analysis of the well being of
children? What is the impact of globalization on child health and
development? What new research has emerged in child mental health? What
follows declines in infant mortality rates? What is new about
mother-child health? The state of research related to the social
consequences of low birth children. The role of fathers in child health
and development. Cross-cultural issues in child health and development.
Traditional methods of child rearing versus modern practices and
philosophies. Raising children in different family contexts: single
parents, extended families and other cross cultural family environments.
Controversies in child labor as a concern for child health. Educational
models for improving the health of children in schools and educational
environments. This session will propose strategies for improving child
health through national programs, the media, and community based changes
and non governmental interventions. Social consequences of the collapse
of buildings and other man-made accidents will also be examined. Please

The International Forum for Social Sciences and Health (IFSSH) welcomes
applications from scholars, administrators, researchers, interested
parties, international agencies, national and international research
institutions and students for participation in the 2005 World Congress

health and disease; Life styles; Living with pain; Local traditions of
healing and shamans; New challenges: smoking, addictions and eating
disorders; Politics of pharmacueticals; Redefining old age; Reproductive
health; Social history of health and disease; Social science education
for health sciences; Sociology of dental health; Suicides and cross
cultural issues in mental health; The economics of well being; The
future of hospitals and patient care; The psychology of violence;
Violence as a public health issue; and Social aspects and prevention of
