FELLOWSHIP- Post-Doc on Central Asia and Islam, Stanford University
NEW CENTRAL ASIA AND ISLAM POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY
The Center for Russian and East European Studies at Stanford University is
pleased to announce one-year post-doctoral fellowship in the social
sciences. The fellowship is open to scholars in various social science
disciplines (Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology)
who focus on contemporary issues of Islam, ethnic identity, security,
democratization or social development in Central and Inner Asia. Residence
in the Stanford area, teaching of a one-quarter undergraduate course, and
participation in Center activities are required during the appointment.
Applicants must have been awarded the Ph.D. no later than August 31, 2002
and may not be more than five years beyond receipt of the doctoral degree.
Fellowships may be given to those who hold continuing, assistant
professor-level teaching positions. The deadline is April 1, 2002. The
award carries a 12-month stipend of $40,000 plus medical insurance coverage.
Your application packet should include a current curriculum vitae, two
letters of reference, graduate transcripts, a 5-page double-spaced plan of
research and writing for the year of appointment and a brief statement of
possible course topics.
