"Scholar, translator, and living encyclopedia of Turkish verse, Dr. Kemal
Silay explores the many diverse and extraordinarily rich poetic traditions
of Anatolia within their cultural, historical, religious, and ideological
contexts. The audience will be captivated by the powerful delivery of his
talk which will include samplings from many prominent poets of Turkey, from
the Ottoman era to our time. One of the most significant messages of Dr.
Silay¹s lecture will be the fascinating degree of pluralism in the Turkish
poetic traditions and their historical and contemporary receptions."
