Radical Curators, Vulnerable Genres: Lost Histories of Collecting,
Editing, Bibliography

CALL FOR PAPERS, MLA 2014

Deadline: March 15, 2013.

We seek papers that explore methodologies for reading texts and
practices--such as the collection, anthology, index, catalog,
bibliography, editorial and field work--that have resisted literary
analysis. The precarious status of these bureaucratic and curatorial
texts as critically opaque, "non-literary" forms has often obscured
their archival richness and the politics of their literary
interventions. We are thus interested in work that investigates the
radical work of editors, compilers, and catalogers to push the
boundaries of authorship, disciplinarity, and genre, particularly within
intellectual histories of race and gender.

Please submit CV and 250-word abstracts Jane Carr (jgc219 at nyu.edu) and
Laura Helton (laura.helton at nyu.edu).
