Kadir Has University and the Cultural Studies Association of Turkey are 
organizing a workshop that aims to examine the history, language,
literature, and culture of the Turkish element in the United States of 
America. This includes coverage of the immigrants from the Ottoman 
Empire and their descendants, as well as of immigrants selfﾭ-defined as 
Turkish from other regions of the world. It is hoped that this workshop 
and the planned publication of its proceedings will jump start the 
establishment of a Turkish-American Studies field, which will moreover 
collect under its umbrella scholarship on Turkish-American topics done 
within various other contexts.

We welcome the participation of representatives from various academic 
disciplines who share a common interest in Turkish-American topics. The
website at <turkamer.kulturad.org> contains information on the 
organizing committee, invited speakers, abstracts that have been 
accepted, registration and accommodation.

The early registration deadline is 16 February 2013.
