American University of Central Asia is calling for applications for 
teaching positions in 2012-2013.

American University of Central Asia is an international, 
multi-disciplinary learning community in the American liberal arts 
tradition that develops enlightened and impassioned leaders for the 
democratic transformation of Central Asia. It is located in Bishkek, 
Kyrgyz Republic, and hosts about 1200 students from about 20 countries. 
Starting June 2011, in partnership with Bard College, AUCA plans to 
award US-accredited degrees. For more on AUCA, please visit our website 
at http://www.auca.kg. Faculty members at AUCA will be expected to teach 
three courses per semester and be actively engaged in scholarly research 
as well as student mentoring, supervision of senior projects and 
university-wide activities. The language of instruction is English.

We seek faculty with a deep appreciation of the liberal arts and a 
willingness to contribute to the development of our inter-disciplinary, 
interactive and student-oriented learning environment.

Areas of teaching: Natural Sciences, Mathematics

One vacancy: the ideal candidate will be able to teach the course "The 
History and Philosophy of Science". This course applies to the 
fulfillment of AUCA's liberal arts requirements. We teach it for all 
students of our university within the limits of the general education. 
This course introduces modern scientific methods used in studying the 
Universe and outlines the history of natural sciences and demonstrates 
their great historical impact on humanity. It makes obvious the profound 
interconnection between philosophy and natural sciences as essential 
elements of human culture.

Applicants should meet the following minimal requirements:


PhD or Masters in Science or Education
Fluent English
Teaching experience
