Claremont McKenna College invites applicants for a position in Middle
Eastern History. This is a /tenure-track appointment at the level of
assistant professor/. The department seeks an outstanding scholar and
dedicated teacher. The region of specialization is open, but the
department is particularly interested in candidates whose work
emphasizes the Arabic speaking regions of the Middle East and Islamic
world. We are open to all subfields and time periods. The candidate will
be expected to teach broadly, with courses that include surveys on
pre-modern and modern Middle Eastern or Islamic history and upper
division courses in his or her area of expertise. The successful
candidate should have completed the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
