Job Announcement

The University of Central Asia was founded in 2000 by the governments
of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, and His Highness the Aga
Khan. The International Treaty and Charter establishing this secular
and private University was signed by His Highness the Aga Khan and the
Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, ratified by the
respective parliaments and registered with the United Nations.


Deputy Director of the School of Professional and Continuing Education,
Central Office UCA

The School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) is Central
Asias leading provider of non-degree short-cycle education and
training for young people and adults leading to professional and
vocational qualifications. SPCE has campuses and learning centres in
five locations and offers English, IT, accounting, tourism,
entrepreneurship and management, construction trades, and technology
programmes. SPCEs Central Office is in Bishkek.

The Deputy Director will:

Support the coordination of SPCE campuses and learning centres to
enhance their development, growth, effectiveness, and provide the
Central Office with feedback from the SPCE units.

Contribute towards the development of new educational and training 
programmes.

Monitor the implementation of policies and procedures regarding the
quality of the delivery of programmes, propose measures to improve the
quality of teaching and coordinate the professional development of 
instructors.

Through regular visits, support SPCE management at the campuses and
learning centres to maintain a collaborative, creative,
student-centred work environment that uses resources in an effective
manner, and maximizes the potential of staff.

Assist with the development and implementation of activities and
projects with international partners.

Requirements:

Education masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.

Experience at a university or other educational or training
institution, public or private sector, international organization or
respected NGO. Preference will be given to experience that provides
evidence of leadership, innovation and ability to implement new ideas.

Familiarity with international standards of education and training.

Good analytical, writing and inter-personal skills.

Knowledge of English and Russian is essential; and knowledge of one of
the national languages of the region is desirable.

Willingness to travel while based in Bishkek.

MS Office apps, Internet, e-mail.
