The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University
of Chicago announces a position for a Lecturer in Turkish language,
intermediate level, for the Eastern Consortium summer intensive program in
Chicago, from 22 June 2009 through 21 August 2008. This intensive nine-week
language course meet several hours daily and provides the equivalent of a
full academic-year's study of Turkish. Emphasis will be placed on listening,
speaking, reading and writing, as well as on cultural content; some
development of supplemental pedagogical materials is expected. Native or
near-native proficiency is required. Preference will be given to candidates
with an advanced degree in Turkish language, literature or second-language
instruction, along with recent teaching experience in a university setting.
