Endowments and NGOs from the Ottoman Empire to Contemporary Turkey
 
Endowments and NGOs played vital roles in social and cultural heritage of
Turks.  They have served humans as well as animals. In a way, they have
represented the altruistic part of human being in an institutionalized form.
In this conference, the past and current state of these endowments, the role
that they play as grassroots organizations, and their merits and
shortcomings of being a non-state entity will be discussed from
multidisciplinary perspectives. Proceedings of this conference will be
published by Raindrop Turkish House.
 
Abstracts must be submitted electronically to
academicaffairs at raindropturkevi.org by December 15, 2008. Please use MS
Word.  The abstracts should be no more than 300 words. All submitted
abstracts will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
 
Full papers are due January 21, 2009. Papers should be no more than 6,000
words. The manuscript should be double-spaced. Please follow Chicago manual
of style.
