The German Archeologists in Turkey
The German–Ottoman relations were in their Golden Age in the last quarter parts of the 19th century. This mutual relation contributed especially to the development of Archeological studies. This development was interrupted by World War I and II. Today we are confronted with a renaissance of this fruitful period. New ways of communication and cooperation emerged between the Archeologists of Turkey and Germany. The lecture deals with the German archaeologists’ activities in Turkey, from the Ottoman period to the Republic period, additionally with the friendship which has risen from these activities.
