The Department of American Culture and Literature at Bilkent University
invites applications for one faculty position beginning in September 2008.
Applications are invited from candidates whose primary field is American
Studies and/or U.S. history. Applicants working in U.S. social and cultural
history, intellectual history, film studies, art history, media studies,
cultural studies, literary studies, gender studies, race and ethnic studies,
and critical theory will be considered. Applicants able to teach the U.S
history survey course and courses in American film and/or media studies will
be given preference. Experience in teaching content-based English
composition would be helpful. Ph.D. in hand by September 2008 is required.

Bilkent University, located in suburban Ankara, was founded in 1984 as the
first private research-oriented university in Turkey. The medium of
instruction is English. Research is a priority at Bilkent. The university
supports grants to conferences. Bilkent seeks to accommodate dual career
