MA and PhD Graduate Programs

Bilkent University's Department of History offers graduate studies at M.A.
and Ph.D. level in the areas of Ottoman, European and the U.S.A. history.
Founded in 1993, the department boasts an international faculty trained at
leading universities in Europe, North America and Turkey.

Each year we accept up to 25 students to our programs. The application
deadline is 6th June 2008. Interviews will be held on 13th and 14th June
2008.

An undergraduate degree in history is NOT a prerequisite for entering the
M.A. program. Graduates of departments of social sciences, humanities,
management, engineering, and science may apply. However, all students
entering the graduate program in history must take one year of preparatory
courses before they begin Master's level course work.

To enter the Ph.D. program candidates are required to have completed an
M.A. degree in History or a related field. All students who are accepted to
the department are normally given bursaries, which include a tuition waiver
and a monthly cash bursary. Students from outside of Ankara are also
offered a place in shared graduate dormitory room.

As well as the application form, applicants should submit a written
statement of purpose, a writing sample, evidence of language and ALES/GRE
results and two reference letters.
