[Onur Inal]

From: Gianclaudio Macchiarella <macchiar at unive.it>

"Phoenix in domo Foscari" is the name of the new, innovative on-line Journal
of Oriental Studies jointly produced by the Departments of Euro-Asian and
Eastern Studies at Ca' Foscari University in Venice and published by
Scriptaweb in Naples. The first issue (434 pp., many color illustrations and
other audiovisual inserts) is now on line at: http://orientalstudies.eu

Until March 31, 2009, the contents of the first issue will be available for
free on line consultation. The reader will not need to install any special
application to read, annotate and search the text. Everything can be done
through a Web browser, though for best reading it is strongly recommended to
navigate the Journal with Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and choose the best screen
resolution that suits your needs from within the Journal itself. The index
of contents (with abstracts and keywords of 12 papers, in addition to book
reviews and short notes) is available at:
http://scriptaweb.eu/Catalogo/phoenix-in-domo-foscari-i
(copy and paste the link into Firefox address line).

Phoenix showcases many other features which can be discovered while browsing
its contents. The most relevant for the scientific community of scholars of
Oriental studies is the possibility of creating a personal online copy of
the Journal where all reader's annotations, remarks and references will be
kept, establishing a discussion forum with other readers through the Web on
issues of interest. All readers of this discussion list are cordially
invited to visit Phoenix and submit their contributions to future issues,
particularly if interested in this new format of scientific Journal. The
Call for Papers for Phoenix no. 2 and 3 will be available shortly and will
be announced on this same list and through the official web site: http://
www.unive.it/phoenix.
