Dear colleagues,
New Europe College - Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest, Romania, is
organizing a regional symposium, From Traditional Attire to the Modern
Dress: Modes of identification, Modes of Recognition in the Balkans
(XVI-XXI Centuries). Please find further details concerning this event
below.
The symposium is scheduled to take place on 13-14 June 2008 at the New
Europe College, 21 Plantelor str., 023971 Bucharest, Romania. Our aim is to
gather scholars from prestigious research institutes and universities in
Central and South-eastern Europe (but also outside it), who work on such
topics. Should you be interested to take part in this symposium, we kindly
ask you to send us the title of your contribution and a short abstract
(200-300 words), together with a one-page CV (including title, positions,
institution, degrees, awards, main publications) until 31 January, 2008.
The selection committee will inform you about their decision in due time
(by the end of February at the latest).
The working languages of this international symposium will be French and
English. The organizers will cover travel and accommodation expenses within
the limits of the budget. We would be grateful if you could also find
additional financial support for participating in our symposium.

New Europe College - Institut d’Etudes Avancées de Bucarest, Roumanie,
organise un colloque régional sur le thème : Des vêtements à l'orientale au
costume à l'européenne : manières de s'identifier, manières de se
reconnaître dans les Balkans (XVIe-XXIe siècles). Vous trouverez dans le
fichier attaché la présentation du colloque et les sections que nous
proposons.
Le colloque aura lieu le 13-14 juin 2008 au New Europe College, 21, rue
Plantelor, 023971 Bucarest. Nous voudrions convier à ce colloque des
chercheurs et universitaires venant des institutions prestigieuses de
l’Europe Centrale et du Sud-Est (ainsi que d’autres pays), qui travaillent
sur des questions ayant trait au thème que nous proposons. Les intéressés
sont priés de nous envoyer le titre de leur présentation et un résumé
(environ 200-300 mots) jusqu'au 31 janvier 2008. Ces propositions devront
être accompagnées par un bref CV, incluant des informations sur le titre
académique, le poste occupé, l’institution, prix, publications importantes.
Les résultats de la sélection opérée par le Comité Scientifique seront
annoncés jusqu'à la fin du mois de février.
Les langues officielles du colloque sont le français et l'anglais.
Les organisateurs assureront, dans la limite du budget, le transport et le
logement des participants. Nous vous serions néanmoins reconnaissants
d’essayer d’identifier d'autres sources de financement.
