Voluntary position at the International Secretariat Program: Europe and
Central Asia Program *Team:* Turkey

*Allowance:* Travel and lunch expenses

*TURKEY TEAM - VOLUNTEER TASK LIST *

The Turkey team has a vacancy for a volunteer to assist the Researcher
and Campaigner in their daily work.

This volunteer placement offers the following opportunities:

Contributing to work which will have a direct impact on Amnesty
International's campaigning goals Developing an understanding of the
structure of Amnesty International as a movement Gaining research
experience Learning about campaigning strategies and activities Using
relevant language skills (including English, Turkish, other languages as
relevant)

Working with the Researcher and Campaigner, the volunteer's main tasks
will

include:

Press monitoring

Some internet research

Liaising as appropriate with AI members and external partners Providing
general campaign support to the team Administrative support

The volunteer will need to be available for 2 days per week. Ideally the
volunteer will be able to commit to at least six months' work.

*Essential skills and experience*

Excellent spoken and written English

Excellent spoken and written Turkish

Familiarity with computer word processing, databases, internet Strong
organizational skills Willingness to undertake administrative work
Ability to work independently Methodical approach and attention to
detail Good inter-personal and communication skills Interest in and
knowledge of human rights Commitment to working in a multi-cultural and
diverse environment Understanding of equal opportunity principles and
commitment to apply them in daily work

*Desirable skills and experience *

Some knowledge of campaigning organizations and AI's work Experience of
working on human rights issues Knowledge of Turkey

*Conflicts of interest policy *

The effectiveness of Amnesty International's work is dependant largely
on the accuracy of our information and the impartial and objective
manner in which we report on and campaign against human rights abuses
and violations. To this end and to ensure our credibility, it is crucial
that we are also perceived by others as being impartial and objective.
