Engaging Men in "Women's Issues"
Women for Women International seeks submissions for the winter 2007
issue of its journal, Critical Half, which will focus on how men can be
engaged to promote positive change in gender relations within a conflict
or post-conflict context. Articles should consider one or more of the
following questions:
# What are men’s perceptions on the status and roles of women and men in
their societies?
# What are men’s thoughts on “women’s empowerment”?
# How can gender relations be transformed in the face of long-standing
cultural beliefs and practices that discriminate against women?
# What factors influence men’s willingness to accept social change that
benefits women?
# What groups of men should be targeted for lasting changes in gender
relations?
# What program strategies have proven to be successful in engaging men
in women’s issues? What are explanations for failed programs?
Articles should be 2,000-2,500 words long. The deadline for submissions
is October 15, 2006. An expanded Call for Papers and important
submission guidelines are available at:
http://www.womenforwomen.org/cfpapers.htm.
