University of Utah, Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Turkish

The Department of Languages and Literature together with the Middle East Center at the University of Utah invite applications for a one-year renewable position as Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Turkish beginning Fall 2007. Ph.D. (or A.B.D.) in Turkish language and literature, or related field, with native or near-native fluency in Turkish, demonstrable
excellence in language teaching, and strong interest in Comparative Literature.

Teaching responsibilities include all levels of Turkish, as well as courses in Turkish literature/culture and in literary/cultural theory. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Deadline for application is December 15, 2006, or until position is filled.
