Last year Dr. Frederick S. Starr, one of the leading western scholars on the
region had presented his article A Partnership for Central Asia in the
summer
issue of Foreign Affairs. The matter covered in his article was a new
conceptual
vision about regional development in Central Asia centered on the post-war
reconstruction of Afghanistan. The main goal of the Conference is to
present a
variety of opinions on this theme, starting from the author of this
approach to
the Department of State representative and to the officials,
representatives of
civil societies of the countries of the region, as well.
Reception by invitation will take place on Friday, March 17th at 6.00
pm, in the
Student Center, Rooms 206 A, B and C. During the reception there will be a
presentation of photo-exhibitions of the University of Montana, Vista
360 from
Jackson, Wyoming and Utah Valley State College about cooperation with the
countries of Central Asia.
