SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS AT ACSIS (Advanced Cultural Studies Institute of
Sweden):

Welcome to Norrköping!

I. Tuesday 14 March 2006, 13.15-16.00 Storarbetsrummet, Laxholmstorget 3
(Strykbrädan plan 3), Norrköping. Open ACSIS workshop (held in Swedish):

"New Research Methods in Cultural Research: Science Critique, Ethics and
Politics"

Introduction by Marianne Winther Jørgensen.
In the panel:
Anna Jonsson (Linköping University)
Jo Krøjer (Roskilde University)
Karin Becker (Linköping University and Stockholm University).

II. Thursday 6 April 13.15-17 Storarbetsrummet, Laxholmstorget 3
(Strykbrädan
plan 3), Norrköping, Sweden. Open ACSIS international seminar:

"Creativity and Economy in Glocal Culture: Creative Industries, Musical
Practices, Aesthetic Cosmopolitanisms"

Cultural practices take place in a complex field of relations. Transnational
glocalisation has made the interrelations between local and global contexts
increasingly complex. The traditional tension between artistic
creativity and
market mechanisms has been transformed by new forms of organisation in and
around the cultural industries. Three scholars will highlight some
fascinating
aspects of the interfaces between cultural industries, cultural work and
aesthetic genres, with music as the prime example:

Mark Banks (Manchester): "Ethics in Unexpected Places: Moral Economy and
Cultural Work"

Ingemar Grandin (Norrköping): "Subsistence and Patronage in the Economy of
Popular Music"

Motti Regev (Tel Aviv): "Pop/Rock and the Transformation of Musical
Nationalism"
