The Women’s Studies Program at Northeastern University annually offers
Research Associate positions to scholars researching topics on women or
gender issues in the humanities and sciences. Scholars are in residence
for the academic year (or shorter) at Northeastern University in Boston,
Massachusetts. During 2006-2007, the Women’s Studies Program will expand
its commitment in interdisciplinary applied research to include the
intersectionality of race and gender. The Institute for Critical Gender
and Ethnic Studies Research is devoted to basic research expanding the
relationship between theory and community practice locally, nationally
and internationally. While scholars must have their own financial
support, a stipend, office space, library privileges, free computer time
on Northeastern’s mainframe, limited support for photocopy, fax and
postage expenses related to research are provided.
Northeastern University has one of the strongest faculties in Women’s
Studies in New England. Now in its 25th Anniversary year, the Women’s
Studies program sponsors seminars, lectures, conferences and colloquia,
including the Boston Feminist Theory Colloquium.
Located in the center of Boston, Northeastern University is ideally
located for visiting scholars. In addition to its proximity to Boston’s
rich cultural and artistic life, Northeastern is close to major research
libraries such as the Boston Public Library, the Schlesinger Library at
Radcliffe as well as numerous academic institutions that make the
intellectual life of Boston one of the richest in the country.
Scholars may apply by sending a brief statement of their project, dates
of expected residency and a current curriculum to:
