CFP: Encyclopedia of the Middle East and South Asia (10/15/05)

Call for contributing articles: Encyclopedia of the Middle East and South Asia

This five volume encyclopedia, to be published by M.E. Sharpe, is primarily
focused upon culture, history, religion, geography, and archeology rather than
politics, economics, and current events. Note that politics, economics, and
current events will be subsumed into categories such as culture and history.
The encyclopedia is organized according to a four level principle by which the
most general categories are designated as level one. Topics designated as level
three and four represent the highest level of specificity. Though the
encyclopedia is invested in the singular character of regions, cultures, people,
languages, etc., it is also largely invested in demonstrating how the regions of
the Middle East and South Asia have interacted over time. Additionally, the
encyclopedia is aimed at scholars of varying levels and ages such that a high
school student may find the encyclopedia as informative and useful as a college
student.

Please refer to the following website for the completed headword list:
http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~gdnewby. In the link titled "Encyclopedia of
the Middle East and South Asia," you will find a more detailed description of
the project as well as the completed headword lists for the Middle East and
South Asia regions. The headword lists are organized according to the
individual terms level assignment.

We are specifically looking for contributing articles for level three and four
terms. If you are interested in contributing to this project, please select the
level three and four terms you are interested in writing about as well as a
brief CV to the email listed below by October 15, 2005.
