CALL FOR PAPERS

The British Society for Phenomenology Annual Conference April 7-9 2006

(St Hilda's College Oxford)

THE WRITINGS OF SLAVOJ ZIZEK

The work of Slavoj Zizek is closely associated with Lacanian psychoanalysis and
political theory. However, anyone who has read his work will know that is almost
impossible to categorise, due to its originality and the abundance of the ideas
and insights it presents in the context of a genuine interdisciplinarity. He is
unusual today in his ability to addresses the political and ethical issues that
engage us all. The aim of the conference is to celebrate the full breadth of his
writing, so we have not limited the theme of the conference to any one topic.

Zizek himself will be speaking at the conference, and there will be seven other
speakers, some of whom will be specially invited and some of whom will be drawn
from this call for papers.

Please send an abstract of 300-400 words to:

David Webb
Faculty of Arts Media and Design
Staffordshire University
College Road
Stoke-on-Trent
ST4 2XW UK
d.a.webb@staffs.ac.uk

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is: October 12, 2005.

GRADUATE STUDENTS ARE PARTICULARLY WELCOME. There will be a short 'graduate
students only' session immediately prior to the start of the conference.

More details regarding speakers will follow shortly. For further information on
the conference and registration, see the BSP web-site:
