"Mapping Modernity: Changing Cultural Orientations"*

The Humanities Graduate Program at International University Bremen:
"Mapping Modernity: Changing Cultural Orientations" offers an exciting
MA and PhD program in a new environment. Situated in the heart of
Europe, it is designed for an international student body and a faculty
strongly committed to interdisciplinary studies.

Historical transformations and new visual and literary structures within
modernity furnish the central themes around which our program is built.

Students learn to combine empirical and theoretical approaches from
literature, art history, philosophy, and history. The major focus is on
the ways in which individuals and societies have described and
interpreted their physical and conceptual territories.

The curriculum offers students insights into these changing cultural
orientations in the past and present. It builds on the distinctive
methods of all the disciplines involved.

Graduates who complete the program will be in an excellent position to
seek careers in cultural management in the widest sense, be it in
academia, in traditional and new media, in museums and document centers,
within public and private organizations.
