IV International Conference of
World Association for Studies in Literatures in English
The Endangered Planet in Literature
November 16-18, 2005
Dogus University, Istanbul, Turkey
Jointly organized by The World Association for Studies in Literatures in
English and The Department of English Language and Literature, Dogus
University
In order to sustain the energy generated by last year's focus on the
relation of literary studies to global issues and the environment, we
invite papers on topics linking literature to the following:
The Natural, the Local and the Global
Technology and Nature
Colonialisms Old and New
Self and the Other
Constructing Gender in the Matrix of Ecology
Nature Threatened, Nature as a Threat
The Imaginary of the Future
Proposals must be sent by email as an attached document in Word format
and include:
Name, address, telephone, fax, and e-mail
Title of paper or panel
For papers, a brief abstract of up to 300 words
For panels, a statement of up to 500 words explaining the
panel topic's relevance to the conference, delineating the panel's aims,
and specifying the participants and the chair
Please provide the information on these points for each panel
participant. Panel proposals should be fully completed before they are
sent.
Deadline for abstracts and panel proposals is May 1, 2005. Deadline for
registration is September 30, 2005. Please send via e-mail to Defne
Demir at ddemir@dogus.edu.tr. Final papers are to be submitted on the
first day of the conference. The registration fee is $50 USD.
