The Eighth Annual Building Bridges Conference will be held at Southern
Illinois
University Carbondale on Friday and Saturday, November 4-5, 2005. This
year's
theme is "East and West" and we are pleased to have Philip J. Ivanhoe as the
keynote speaker.

comparative papers from any discipline that address some relation

East and the West. Topics may include but are not limited to:

and an
Eastern thinker.
(2) Historical or philosophical influence of an Eastern thinker on a Western
thinker, or vice versa.
(3) Placing an Eastern thinker in dialogue with a Western thinker.
(4) An Eastern response/approach to a particular Western problem/issue,
or vice
versa.
