INTERNSHIP- Armenian Library & Museum of America, 2 Internships
Armenian Library and Museum of America (ALMA) seeks interns to assist
with the
ongoing development and maintenance of the library collection and museum
exhibits. The general scope of duties includes assistance in ongoing
development
and maintenance of library catalogs, databases, recording new library
and museum
acquisitions. Specifically, interns will be asked to enter book's
formatted info
into computer, assign number, catalog and maintain photo collection, type
bookplates, photograph each object/artifact for permanent records, assist in
mounting new exhibits. In addition, minimal administrative tasks will be
expected, such as sending acknowledgements to donors, filing the paperwork
related to new acquisitions, sending invitation to new exhibition
receptions.
Skills/abilities:
Energetic, communicative, creative and highly organized individual with
great
attention to detail. Library or Arts or History majors are preferred.
Knowledge
of Armenian is a plus but not required.
Time commitment:
Part-time work 15-20 hours a week preferable 3 days a week 10 am-5 pm
Summer/ Fall internship dates: July 15 - December 15, 2005
Deadline: Available immediately!
Winter/Spring internship dates: January 15 - June 15, 2006
Deadline: December 1, 2005
Please note that the internship is renewable on a case-by-case basis.
Compensation: Unpaid (Can arrange to provide college credit)

Armenian Library and Museum of America (ALMA) is a national repository of
Armenian artifacts, objects, artwork, manuscripts and publications that
illustrate the history and culture of the Armenian people. The Museum is
home
for more than 20,000 artifacts, 5,000 coins, 3,000 textile items, and 170
Armenian Rugs. The Library collection is comprised of more than 18,000
books on
Armenian heritage, history and culture, 930 rare books and old
manuscripts, and
800 oral histories.
