Exit 9, The Rutgers Journal of Comparative Literature, has pushed its
submission deadline back to Feb. 21, 2005
EXIT 9: CALL FOR PAPERS--DEADLINE EXTENDED--EXIT 9: CALL FOR PAPERS
"DIALOGUES"
Exit 9 currently is accepting manuscripts for its next issue, slated for
publication in Summer 2005. Although Bakhtin and his followers may have
popularized the word =93dialogue=94 in applying it to the novel, the
tradition of dialogue dates back at least as far as Plato, who committed
his teacher=92s oral dialogues to writing. The forthcoming issue of Exit
9 aims to explore the notion of dialogue in terms of both form and
content. Topics may focus on, but are not limited to, the following:
=B7 dialogue between myth and contemporary works
=B7 the epistemology of dialogue: how truth is formed
=B7 dialogue and dialectics
=B7 dialogue within the text
=B7 satire: dialogic or reactionary?
=B7 the dialogue between literary movements (realism- modernism, etc.)
=B7 literature and theory, or theory and literature
=B7 dialogue and ideology: can competing ideologies enter into dialogue?
=B7 violence and dialogue
=B7 dialogue as a form of cultural politics: utopia or possibility?
=B7 dialogue and neuroses; dialogue and psychosis
=B7 dialogue: fashion or dialectic?
=B7 genre as a dialogue/dialogue between genres
=B7 cross-cultural dialogue/dialogue in postcolonialism
=B7 dialogue, misreading, overinterpretation
The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 21, 2005.
Submissions should follow MLA format (endnotes and complete
bibliography) and should include two hard copies, an electronic copy (on
disk), and a short biography (50 words). Please mail submissions to:
