FIRST ALL CYPRUS SOCIAL SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES CONFERENCE

The Cyprus Academic Forum (CAF) is a recently formed group of Greek-and Tur=
kish-Cypriot academics, with the mission of bringing together academics/i=
ntellectuals =96 to meet each other, exchange views and opinions on their=
areas of specialization, and on educational matters in general. Two of i=
ts main target-projects are, first: creating a data-bank of all academics=
in Cyprus, with their fields of study and research interest, which would=
facilitate joined research projects, collaboration and communication amo=
ng Cypriot academics (or non-Cypriot academics living in Cyprus). Second:=
initiating and organising formal events, related to Cyprus and other cur=
rent issues raised by its members. Within the context of the latter, it p=
lans to organise annual scholarly conferences, in the various areas of kn=
owledge (i.e. Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Engineering,=
Education, Mathematics, etc), with the aim of fostering local scholarly =
work and research.

The 1st All Cyprus Social Science and Humanities Conference is planned to b=
e an interdisciplinary conference of scholarly work related to social sci=
ence and humanities studies and research. The organising committee hopes =
to facilitate the coming together of scholars in the said disciplines, so=
as to present their recent/current work in their areas of interest. It i=
nvites researchers, scholars and academics to use this conference as a fo=
rum for collegiate, interdisciplinary cooperation and communication, in a=
ll relevant areas (anthropology, education, history, international relati=
ons, languages, political economy, political science, psychology, sociolo=
gy, etc.)

Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, results and conclusions of the =
work to be described in the final paper. Final acceptance will be based o=
n abstracts submitted. To be fair to all participants, each registered de=
legate will only be able to submit one paper. The language of the confere=
nce will be English.

Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted to Rona Panteli at =
panteli.r@intercollege.ac.cy not later than the 31st January 2005. We str=
ongly encourage the submission of abstracts electronically.

Once all the proposals are received, the organizing committee will group th=
em in clusters of related topics, in order to propose a final program wit=
h as much coherence as possible.
