FULL-TIME ACADEMIC POSITION IN MEDIEVAL/OTTOMAN STUDIES

Job Description:

The primary responsibilities for this position include undergraduate
teaching, scholarly research and publication, developing curriculum in
the field of history, serving on appropriate department and university
comities, and advising to a diverse population of students.

Qualifications:

All applicants should have potential for excellence in teaching and =
research. Preference will be given to a candidate with a research =
interest in the history of Cyprus and Eastern Mediterranean. Applicants =
for an Assistant Professor appointment should have completed a Ph.D. =
degree in History, Middle Eastern or related studies and should have =
published research in indexed journals. Excellent command of English =
expected. An applicant for an Associate Professor or Professor =
appointment must demonstrate a strong academic record of teaching and =
publications, and should have a proven track of ability to mentor junior =
faculty. The application should include the names of three referees =
(including their addresses, e-mail and telephone contact details).

Term of Employment:
EMU offers a competitive salary. The initial appointment is for eleven =
months starting September 1, 2005, renewable for two years, contingent =
