CALL FOR PAPERS
CULTURE AND INTERNATIONAL HISTORY III

Center for North American Studies
Johann Wolgang Goethe-Universit=E4t Frankfurt/Main, Germany
19 - 21 December 2005

The Center for North American Studies, Frankfurt, and the institute for =
cultural diplomacy, Berlin, invite proposals for a symposium dedicated =
to the study of the role of culture in international relations. Possible =
themes include the social and psychological structure of diplomacy; the =
demise of the West as a center of cultural diplomacy; the role of NGOs =
and private individuals in the making of an international order; =
longterm strategies and developments of cultural relations; and =
competing visions of modernity. Culture and International History III =
will take place at the University Frankfurt am Main (Germany) from =
December 19 to 21, 2005.

To be fully considered proposals must arrive by Friday, March 11, 2005. =
Proposals should include: paper title and abstract, and a one-page vita =
of the participant.  Proposals for panels will likewise be considered =
(chair/commentator, three panelists).  Pending approval, speakers may =
apply for funds to help defray their travel costs and accommodation. =
Participants who have an interest in the topic and would like to attend =
the conference without delivering a paper are welcome and should =
likewise contact the organizers. The conference fee is Euro 40 per =
person and includes participation, snacks and beverages.  The costs for =
accommodations in a nearby hotel range between Euro 45 and Euro 90 per =
