The Department of History at Istanbul Bilgi University seeks informal =
applications for a position as teaching assistant. The position begins =
in February and ends in August, 2006 (prolongation depending on =
departmental need and approval by the University). At Bilgi University, =
responsibilities of TAs include the organisation and teaching of classes =
along with cooperation in departmental affairs and administration. =
Applicants must be enrolled in a MA or PhD programme in history or a =
related field. As English is the language of instruction, active and =
passive versatility in both English and Turkish is required.=20

Istanbul Bilgi University's Department of History was founded five years =
ago. It provides a dynamic working environment in the framework of a =
university with a stress on social sciences and liberal arts. Among the =
aims of the department are to give students a thorough education in =
methodologically state-of-the-art academic history and to create an =
intellectually inspiring, research-oriented environment for instructors =
and teaching assistants. Whereas undergraduate teaching covers a broad =
range of topics, members of the department publish predominantly on =
Ottoman and modern Turkish history.=20
