French Studies and Ottoman Studies: Towards a Cross-Disciplinary =
Dialogue
        =20
Perhaps no other early modern state had such a sustained relationship =
with the Ottoman Empire as France did or left such a rich record of that =
relationship in image and in print. So what, if anything, have French =
Studies and Ottoman Studies in Europe and/or the United States learned =
from
each other? How do they define their object(s) of study? What questions =
would/should scholars from each area ask each other given the =
opportunity?
How do they respond to the interdisciplinary challenge of =
postcolonialist criticism? Contributions from all fields (history, =
literature, anthropology,
art, international relations, etc.) are welcome.
