Assistant Professor of Turkish

The Ohio State University, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures
(NELC), invites applications for a tenure-eligible assistant professor of
Turkish. Areas of focus should include on or more of the following: Turkish
literature, Turkish cultural studies, or Ottoman Studies (language, literature,
and/or cultural/intellectual history). Native or near-native proficiency in the
Turkish language is required, as are a demonstrated interest in innovative
interdisciplinary reseach and in media-enhanced teaching.

Requirements include Ph.D. in hand by September 2006, when the position begins,
and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research. Review of
applications will begin November 1, 2005 and will continue until the position is

interests, CV, research writing sample, sample syllabus, and names and complete
