THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ISLAM (ICI'05)
April 29-30, University of Wisconsin-Madison

The 2005 International Conference on Islam & Exhibit, with this year's =
theme as Islam and Dialogue, is scheduled from April 29-30, 2005 on the =
UW-Madison campus, Madison, WI, at the Lowell Center.
This is to be a phenomenal two-day gathering of national and =
international academics in sociology, history, religious studies, =
anthropology, and other fields, presenting the latest research on topics =
of great interest and importance worldwide, such as:
- Islamic Feminism
- Professional Veiled Women
- American Islamic Identity
- Dialogue in the Islamic Scriptures
- Islamic view of Christianity and Judaism
- Historical Insights into Dialogue
- Islam and Secularism
- Islam and Democracy
- Islam and the West
- Interfaith Coexistence in the Ottoman Empire
ICI'05 presents 9 panels including presentations by top national and =
international experts, offering a unique educational opportunity. In =
conjunction with the conference, the following special exhibits and =
performances will be offered:
Exhibits:
- Diversity in Muslim Cultures Fair - display tables representing =
various Muslim countries and cultures will be at Lowell Hall throughout =
the conference.
- Calligraphy and Ebru Art Exhibit
- Interfaith Concert
ICI'05 is proud to highlight two exceptional keynote speakers:
* Dr. Kemal Karpat, Professor Emeritus, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Dept. of History, will address Secularism, Modernity and Islam in =
Turkish History
* Dr. Zeki Saritoprak, Professor, John Carrol University,=20
Department of Religious Studies, will address Islamic Theological =
Foundations of Interfaith Dialogue and the Gulen Movement.

We are certain that the scholarly discussion of questions regarding =
various aspects of Islam and Dialogue will provide the public with a =
