Paradoxes of Citizenship: Environments, Exclusions, Equity

We invite papers, or proposals for papers, on the following subjects:

Gender and Exclusion
Television and National Identity
Race and/in Green Writing
Ecocriticism and Environment
Citizen or Subject: Rights and Responsibilities
Religion and Exclusion
Queer Cinema: How Exclusive?
Literature and the other Arts
Are all national literatures created equal?

Papers on other topics are welcome and will be collected into  general
sessions or catagorized by theme.  Please submit 250 - 500 word
abstracts to
Dr. Stan Beeler: stan@unbc.ca before January 30, 2005.

Special sessions:
Citizen of the World? Victorian Writers outside England
(co-sponsored by NAVSA):
This panel seeks papers that address the lives and writings of Victorian
writers beyond the British borders. Papers dealing with the reception of
Victorian writers abroad, or their influence on nineteenth- century
European and American authors are particularly encouraged in the context
of this jointly organized panel with the North American Victorian
Studies Association (http://www.sla.purdue.edu/ academic/ engl/navsa/).
