We are seeking paper proposals and proposals for panels in the area of
computer culture for the 26th annual meeting of Southwest Texas Popular
Culture and American Culture Associations, to be held at Albuquerque,
New Mexico, February 9-12, 2005.

Please email < jchaney@iusb.edu > a short abstract (one paragraph), with
paper title, and brief biographical note by December 1, 2004.

Graduate students are welcome, and presenters need not be experts in the
area of inquiry. Computer culture is still a new and developing academic
field. This is a popular culture conference, so practitioners are
welcome as well as scholars. Presentations may be creative, scholarly,
theoretical, or simply informative.

Panel proposals may address any topic in the broad field of computer
culture.

Paper proposals should address, at least tangentially, one of the
following topics:

Online News Sites
Blogging
Web Commerce
Politics and the Web/Politics of the Web
Gaming
Online Sports Sites
Personal Home Pages
The Ebay Phenomenon
Web Searching
Computers and Film (film criticism or production)
Virtual Communities
E-Publishing (e-zines, et al.)
Fan Sites
Computers and Pedagogy

The conference, which has become national in scope, is energetic and
friendly. The atmosphere is informal.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Professor Joseph R. Chaney
Area Chair, Computer Culture
Southwest Texas PCA/ACA
