Precedence: bulk
Orlando, FL, June 9-12, 2005
Please note that the conference includes a plenary session on Aging and
Ageism featuring Kathleen Woodward, Margaret Gullette, and Marilyn
Hughes Gaston.
Because of a turnover in caucus panel chairship, the NWSA Aging and
Ageism Caucus seeks eleventh-hour submissions to a double panel on
Gender and the Aging Body. One of the panels will focus on "The Aging
Body in Theory," and the other on "The Aging Body in Praxis." We invite
approaches from across the disciplines on topics that include, but are
not limited to:
-the language of aging bodies
-identity, age, and the body
-the gendering of age
-the medicalization of age
-art and the aging body
-sexuality and old age
-historical approaches to aging
-economics of aging/old age
-aesthetics of aging/old age
-old age in the classroom
-psychological and/vs. physical aging
-aging and/vs. disability
-old age, activism, and the body
